I have been helping students prepare for and get excellent scores on the LSAT, GMAT, and MCAT (Verbal Reasoning/CARS) for more than ten years. During that time, I have helped hundreds of students get the scores they needed to get into some of the best professional schools in the country.

Personalized test prep is by far the most efficient and effective method of preparing for these challenging exams. All of our one-on-one sessions will be customized to YOUR personal needs, which maximizes your return on investment of both time and money.

I have taught for several of the most popular test prep companies - I know their methods and I am very familiar with their materials. I have the expertise to identify and teach the methods that best match each individual student's learning style. In this way, you are certain to practice and master the strategies and techniques that will help YOU succeed.

FREE CONSULTATION: I offer a free consultation (usually around 30-45 minutes). This is primarily a needs assessment session where we can get to know each other a bit and discuss your goals, needs, schedule, and budget. It's also an opportunity to sample my teaching methods and to evaluate whether we're a good fit for working together.

CLASS SIZE: One (you!). I'm also willing to do small group classes if you have one or more friends who are prepping for the same test. Although my hourly rate is slightly higher for small group classes, the cost per person goes down quite a bit, which makes this a very affordable option.

BOOKS and MATERIALS: I have a large library of test prep materials we can use for your sessions, all of which are current and reflect the most recent updates to any of the tests. You'll probably want to buy one or two books of your own (I can make recommendations), and we can certainly use any materials you have already purchased, but there will be no need for you to spend loads of cash on books just for test prep.

LOCATION: I meet most of my students in a public location such as a library or cafe, but we can also meet at your home or workplace. Alternatively, we can do our sessions in an online classroom equipped with an interactive whiteboard, video chat, file sharing, and numerous other features.

I am confident that I can help you maximize your potential and get your personal best score. Please contact me if you'd like to schedule a free consultation and/or if you have any questions.

Thank you for your consideration. I look forward to working with you!

I have been helping students prepare for and get excellent scores on the GMAT for more than ten years. During that time, I have helped hundreds of students get the scores they needed to get into some of the best business schools and programs in the country. There are a lot of GMAT tutors out there, so why should you choose me? I scored very well on the GMAT, but I'm a teacher and tutor first. My expertise is in helping you maximize both your understanding and your score. My approach is friendly and personable, but also efficient and effective. I will help you build your confidence while we also enhance your skills. One of my specialties is working with non-native English speakers. Let's face it - the GMAT is a tough exam for almost anyone, but there are added challenges for people who do not speak English as a native language. I taught English as a Second Language for eight years and I bring all of that knowledge to help you beat the GMAT! One of my unique strengths is being able to figure out which of your test challenges are related to *content* and which are related to *strategy* or approach. Then we address those challenges in a methodical manner, moving you closer and closer to your full potential. I offer a free consultation where we can discuss your goals and needs in detail, and I can demo some of my tutoring techniques. This will also give us a chance to determine whether we're a good fit for working together. Feel free to reach out to me here via the WyzAnt messaging system and let's start our conversation today!

LSAT,

LSAT

It might seem weird, but LSAT tutoring is my passion (well, one of them!). I scored very well on the LSAT (99th percentile), but much more importantly, I can help YOU reach your full LSAT potential. My expertise is in helping you maximize both your understanding and your score. My approach is friendly and personable, but also efficient and effective. Working together, we will build your confidence, enhance your skills, and improve your score. I have more than ten years of LSAT prep experience (on my own and also teaching for highly regarded LSAT prep companies), and I'm well-versed with all of the best materials and methods. Together, we will design and execute an LSAT prep plan that is customized to your learning style, strengths and needs. Using this personalized approach, I've helped hundreds of students surpass their target scores and earn admissions and generous scholarships to their preferred schools. I have personally completed every official LSAT preptest at least once, and have used the vast majority of them numerous times with students. I've spent hundreds of hours evaluating the patterns in things like how LSAT games are designed, how LR questions are written, and how the LSAT writers construct tempting but incorrect answers. I can help you acquire many of these same insights, which I guarantee will make the entire test more straightforward. I truly LOVE tutoring for the LSAT, and I bring this positive attitude to each and every session. MCAT

MCAT

As a teacher and trainer in the fields of analytical, logical and critical reasoning, my tutoring expertise related to MCAT prep focuses primarily on Critical Analysis and Reasoning Skills (CARS - previously the Verbal Reasoning VR section), and Psychological, Social and Biological Foundations of Behavior. I tutor for CARS independently as well as for one of the most highly regarded MCAT prep companies. Over the past 12 years, I have helped more than 300 students (including 50+ non-native English speakers) obtain the scores they needed on these sections of the MCAT exam. I can also assist with the science sections (I earned an MS degree in Kinesiology and Physiology), but my expertise can be leveraged best if you have a solid understanding of the content and primarily need help with test-taking strategies. I often work with MCAT students who know the science material quite well but still aren't scoring near their potential. If that describes you, I can definitely help! Tutoring sessions will be customized to your specific needs and learning style. I have a library of the best MCAT prep materials we can use to supplement any books or online materials you might already own, and I stay up-to-date with any changes in the exam structure and/or content.

Awesome everytime. I am very impressed and look forward to each session. It is like she wrote the test herself.

She has brought a new light to the LSAT. She gears each lesson to the student and does not teach from a cookie cutter approach. I really appreciate her style of teaching.

Encouraging and Kind Tutor!

Like many I was struggling with studying for the LSAT. It was a daunting task and it seemed that whatever I tried didn’t work. Luckily, I found Janet online. I was impressed with all of her reviews and decided to give online tutoring a shot. I was skeptical about my ability to learn over a “skype-like” environment, but from my first meeting with her I felt extremely confident in her ability to teach me. I started my tutoring with her and I took a practice test that I got a 143 on. I was not happy with my score at all but Janet was confident in my ability to raise it. I spent about 2 and a half months studying with her, meeting 2-3 times a week. She would give me homework outside of our tutoring sessions and this homework was challenging but really helped me hone the skills she had taught me in our previous lesson. She was always very encouraging and kind and she genuinely cared about me and my success. She provided great tips for success on test day and I was able to raise my score 16 points to achieve a 159, which was above my original goal of 155. Janet helped me so much and gave me non-stop confidence and encouragement. I’m happy to say that I was accepted to most of the law schools I applied to and I got very generous scholarships to the ones I was accepted to. I attribute a lot of my success to Janet’s help as my tutor!

Motivating LSAT Tutor

When I think about the effect that Janet's tutoring has had on my law school application process and the major life events that will follow it I am overwhelmed. I began my LSAT tutoring with Janet hoping to somewhat improve my score on the logic games section of the test (one of the three sections of the LSAT) but feeling that I had otherwise done about as well as I could do on the test. Janet proved me wrong. Not only did she double my logic games score but she also raised my already decent scores on the logical reasoning and reading comprehension sections by 25% or more. She views the strengths, weaknesses, and goals of her students holistically and understands the importance of comprehensive strategies for succeeding on the LSAT. Beyond her helpful breakdowns of example questions in what she uncovered were my variety of improvable areas during our sessions, the wealth of LSAT related resources that she provides to her students for use at home is incredible. I frequently had friends also studying for the LSAT who were using tutors through large, expensive test prep companies express surprise and jealousy at the tailored materials I received from her. After receiving my first acceptance from a top ten law school I am even more motivated to encourage others to begin working with Janet as early in their LSAT journey as possible regardless of what their current scores and goals are!!

Quick and efficient

I met with Janet once and she was able to easily hone in on the mistakes that were hurting my score the most, and taught me steps on how to improve. I noticed immediate result after our session.

IELTS Expert

Before I was hopeless to study the IELTS preparation test but when I met Janet, everything changed. She taught me how to write the task 1 and 2. I gained confidence. It show me the way and technique of IELTS writing tasks. She knows what is weakness of each students and know how to deal with it. For example, from the first class she start with observing the student writing to find his difficulty and teach him the right way. I really encourage anyone going to take the IElTS to hire her. Janet is the best.

Effective teacher!

As a Spanish person, meeting Janet has been lucky for me. As a teacher, she seems like a great, serious and professional person. She has great teaching skills to convey ideas and knowledge, and in addition, she had much ability to detect and determine what were my weaknesses and offered immediate solutions. Her classes have been very dynamic and complete, because we have been combining grammar, speaking, listening, and writing. In conclusion, I have been able to improve my English in a very effective way and in a record time. I hope that others have the same luck to work with Janet as I have had. Thanks a lot !!!

An Excellent English/ESOL Tutor!

We recently hosted a 21 year-old Italian man in our home for two months. At the time of his arrival his English conversation skills were very limited, but by the time he returned to Italy last week his skills had improved to a tremendous degree. We were amazed! Wyzant's Janet W. contributed greatly to the improvement of our guest's English-speaking skills. She was extremely professional, very punctual, and always well-prepared. Our guest felt Janet W.'s instruction was "very, very helpful" to him, he enjoyed his instruction time with her very much, and he always looked forward to his lessons with her. I would highly recommend Janet W. to anyone else who is searching for high quality, professional English/ESOL language instruction. You will not be disappointed!

A wonderful tutor

I needed a 26 in the speaking part of Toefl. Those who have taken Toefl know how hard it is to get a 26. Janet was very helpful. She is a very experienced person. She always answered my e-mails and questions immediately. She provided me lots of practice material and would go through my answers before the day of class. She is one of the most responsible and dedicated teachers I have ever had. I always felt that she was trying her best to help me. She is very knowledgeable in her field. As a result of her hard work, I got 27 in the speaking and 27 in the writing part of Toefl. I strongly recommend her as your tutor if you want to pass your tests with a wonderful grade.
