I've been teaching and tutoring in some form since 2003. I spent five years as an adjunct professor at Portland State, Concordia, Clark College, Mt. Hood, and Portland Community College, teaching college-level math and stats. Outside the classroom, I've done one-on-one tutoring in math and science since 2012, and I spent a year teaching math at Columbia River Correctional Institute, where clear, patient communication was everything. Those experiences taught me how to meet students where they are, not where I think they should be.
My day job is leading global analytics teams at Nike, so I bring real-world context to the concepts I teach. When a student asks "when will I ever use this?", I actually have an answer. I work best with teens and college students who are struggling to connect the dots or just need someone to explain things differently. I keep sessions practical, low-pressure, and focused on building real understanding, not just getting through the homework.
