I bring more than 18 years of medical experience as an emergency nurse and paramedic, along with a strong academic background in the sciences required for nursing, EMS, and pre-health programs. I graduated as valedictorian from the accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing program at the University of Portland. During nursing school, I was selected as the Providence Scholar for my cohort, a competitive full-ride scholarship that also included a guaranteed full-time nursing position with Providence after graduation. I completed all of my prerequisite coursework with a 4.0 GPA. I also graduated at the top of my class from the Chemeketa Community College Paramedic Program, where I was awarded a scholarship as well.
While completing both programs, I regularly mentored and tutored classmates who were struggling with coursework and exam preparation. I work primarily with college-level nursing, paramedic, and medical prerequisite students in one-on-one settings, focusing on simplifying complex topics such as anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, and pathophysiology. I also help students develop effective study strategies and improve test-taking confidence.
In addition to tutoring, I have six years of experience serving as a clinical preceptor for student nurses and paramedic students in emergency medical settings. I have had great success helping students who struggle with ADHD, test anxiety, and exam preparation by adapting lessons to their learning style. I also enjoy helping students navigate applications and scholarship opportunities for nursing and paramedic programs.
