Experienced Organic Chemistry Tutor

Hello! My name is Brianna, and I am an organic chemistry tutor. I graduated with honors from undergrad with a Bachelor's of Science in Biomedical Sciences, but I minored in Chemistry. It was during college that I found organic chemistry and fell in love with it, so I decided to pursue it for graduate school. I attended and obtained my PhD in Chemistry from the University of Michigan. Since then, I have gained additional experience as a professor of organic chemistry.

I have over eight years of experience in organic chemistry, and four years of teaching/tutoring experience. Even when I taught larger classes, I often worked in small groups or individually with students during office hours. I am most passionate about organic chemistry, but I can also tutor in general chemistry.

Since each student is different, I tailor each tutoring session to the individual student. I start by asking them what they would like to gain from tutoring and come up with a plan to help them achieve that. I believe there is not a "one size fits all" approach to learning, and I can quickly shift and adapt to find what works best for each student to comprehend the material. I use a lot of analogies and some memory tricks to help course content "click" for students. I also spend a lot of time on practice problems and helping students see the patterns in reaction mechanisms, so they can rely less on memorization and more on fundamental understanding.

I have a plethora of practice problems and resources to draw from, but I do appreciate it when students come to tutoring sessions with questions, topics they would like to cover, or specific practice problems. My goal is to help students succeed and find joy in learning. I am easily reachable and will respond within 24 hours.
