Hi, my name is Shae! I graduated from the University of Missouri -Columbia (Mizzou) in 2014 with a Bachelor of Science in Fisheries and Wildlife. While studying at Mizzou, I was enrolled in a writing intensive science program that focused on writing scientific research papers in MLA format. During my stay at Mizzou I also ran my own undergraduate research study.
Through my college experience, I have gained a plethora of knowledge and experience in writing and reviewing research papers in addition to data analysis and comprehension. I am well versed in both MLA and APA writing styles. While an undergrad, I tutored my own peers with writing assistance for their papers in English and Science subjects as well as help in comprehension and memorization of scientific principles.
In addition to my experience assisting college aged students, I also tutored elementary school aged children during a summer at a total of 50+ hours with the A+ Program. In this program I assisted students in a variety of subjects from reading comprehension to basic mathematics.
I feel whether tutoring elementary school or college aged students, the most important skill any tutor should have is to know how to keep their students engaged. I feel the best way to achieve this is by altering my teaching approach according to each student's individual needs and by what that student has shown that need in order to best succeed.
