I have also worked one-on-one with K12 students in the classroom, which heavily influences my college classroom approach. I take time to understand why students struggle with material and deliver concrete practices to improve ability. Have trouble with run-on sentences? I have trick for that--in fact, I have a few. Do you have something meaningful to say? I can help you say it. Do you need help on your homework? As someone who designs homework, I can help you complete it. Are you putting together a dissertation? I can help you vet it for readability, clarity, and efficiency. I am experienced in teaching all age levels, from middle school children to aging adults in retirement.
I earned my Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing as one of four students hand-selected from hundreds of applicants. My especial love is for story, and my especial talent is understanding the big picture needs of the manuscript--which is an advanced understanding. While other tutors might look at your manuscript and give feedback on your sentences, I can tell you if the story is working as a whole. I understand story to be a moving engine of parts, each feature serving a function, and together we can diagnose whether your features are functioning as needed.
