Science has always fascinated me, especially how it applies to people and the way we grow, think, and learn. I scored 5s on both the AP Biology and AP Psychology exams and am excelling in my college-level biology, chemistry, and psychology courses. I truly believe that understanding science shouldn’t feel overwhelming, it can be fun.
During my senior year of high school, I volunteered at our school’s “Study Café,” where I tutored peers in subjects like biology and chemistry. I worked with students ranging from 9th to 12th grade, usually in a one-on-one setting or in small groups of two to three students. Many of them came in needing help preparing for tests or just trying to keep up with difficult material. I loved being able to break down complex topics into something simpler and more relatable.
My approach to tutoring is very student-centered. I work best when the student has specific topics or practice problems they want to go over, and I always tailor my teaching style to how they learn best. I often draw diagrams or visual aids to help explain ideas, especially in subjects like biology, where visuals can make a huge difference. I also make sure to check in frequently with students to make sure they’re really understanding, not just hearing.
I’m excited to keep helping others build confidence in themselves and their ability to succeed in school, especially in subjects that might feel intimidating at first!
