I am a fiction writer and a licensed substitute teacher for grades K-12. My sweet spot is 4th through 9th grade. I haven’t yet met a student with whom I could not connect. I genuinely enjoy helping young adults with the puzzle of their minds, for they already have the ideas and answers they need for homework and writing assignments; they need to access them and organize them onto a page. You would be surprised, for even the smallest, snarkiest comment can become the seed of a brilliant idea....

I genuinely enjoy helping young adults with the puzzle of their minds, for they already have the ideas and answers they need for homework and writing assignments; they need to access them and organize them onto a page. You would be surprised, for even the smallest, snarkiest comment can become the seed of a brilliant idea. I enjoy helping them dissect their perspectives and fitting ideas into assignments. I have worked in education for 25 years in homeschooling, elementary, community college, and university settings. I am honored to continue my work with students as a substitute teacher and tutor. While I am not formally licensed in special education, I have a great deal of experience working with students with learning challenges, most particularly those who fall on the autism spectrum. I generally tutor online, but I am open to considering in-person tutoring if a student particularly responds better to the physical presence of a tutor. I cannot accept students in the Beaverton school district.
