My name is Lily and I am a psychology major at Lewis & Clark college, due to graduate on May 4th! I have taken courses in child development and have an interest in educational psychology, as well as the development of learning and how to improve opportunities for current students.
During the spring semester of 2023, I was a student researcher at OMSI, aiming to discover how tangible technology affected childrens’ problem solving skills. This gave me experience in working with children specifically ages 7-11, helping explain concepts and rules to them, and aiding in walking them through basic coding software. In high school, I also taught swim lessons to children ranging from ages 3 to 8, which taught me invaluable lessons in patience, teaching skills, and lesson planning.
My tutoring experience in high school mostly involved one-on-one tutoring with elementary aged children, but teaching swim lessons to small groups helped develop my experience with lesson planning and teaching multiple students at once. My volunteer work at OMSI was also one-on-one instruction with children, and involved teaching them basic coding skills and walking them through basic coding software. All in all, I've had experience teaching and working with kids for 5+ years and would welcome opportunities to tutor children of all ages across a range of subjects!
