Hi there! I'm Maria J and I have been teaching or tutoring in one form or another since 1990! (Yup I'm old-school). I received my TEFL in 1990 from International House in London and haven't looked back since. My parents are both teachers- mum English, dad History- so teaching is very much in my blood. I have a degree in Biology from Fordham University.

Hi there! I'm Maria J and I have been teaching or tutoring in one form or another since 1990! (Yup I'm old-school). I received my TEFL in 1990 from International House in London and haven't looked back since. My parents are both teachers- mum English, dad History- so teaching is very much in my blood. I have a degree in Biology from Fordham University.

I have been teaching lessons in ESL, English, writing, reading, science, math and history for over 17 years to private students, my own children (3 homeschooled daughters) and students from online platforms. I have experience in classroom teaching, private in-person, private online and online group teaching. My students have ranged in age from 4 to 65 and everything in between.

I love teaching others what I know and helping them achieve that light bulb moment where something confusing suddenly becomes clear.
If you have a question, please just ask! I teach exclusively online and am very flexible with my availability.
I especially love teaching groups so if you have some friends and want to reduce your cost per hour ask me about group policies.
