I completed my PhD in Personality Psychology from Northwestern University in 2022. Before that, I completed my Bachelors in Psychology (minor in English Literature) from Scripps College.

I have been teaching for the last eight years. I have taught classes on a range of subjects (i.e., psychopathology, civic engagement, storytelling) and have taught classes both in-person and virtually. While at Northwestern, I successfully completed the Teaching Certificate Program in 2020, taught four classes, led one discussion section, acted as a teaching assistant for fourteen classes, and ten guest lectures (average student evaluation: 5.91/6.0).

For the last three years, I have been acting as an instructor and researcher at Georgia Institute of Technology, where I have taught two sections of a class called "The Art of Telling Your Life Story" (average student evaluation: 5.0/5.0). In addition to the performance aspect of this storytelling class, I also work with students on how to best incorporate their stories into cover letters (for jobs) and personal statements (for grad school & fellowships) and craft clear and compelling letters to work towards their future careers.

I am also a writer! In my career, I have published five research articles in peer-reviewed journals. In my free time, I have published my poetry and prose in several literary magazines and am currently working on a novel. I absolutely love writing, editing, and proofreading and would enjoy assisting you with any of your academic essays, college & grad school admissions essays, research articles, and creative writing.

In addition to editing, I can also provide tutoring in 1) psychology, 2) public speaking, 2) SAT, ACT reading & writing, and 3) English Literature. I absolutely love working one-on-one with students and look forward to (hopefully) working with you!

Public Speaking

I have extensive experience over the last six years teaching, providing guest lectures, and giving conference talks. For the last year, I've been teaching multiple sections of "The Art of Telling Your Life Story", which specifically works on students' ability to orally present their life story in an engaging and memorable manner.

Extremely knowledgeable, goes above and beyond to help

Ariana is very knowledgeable, both about the applications process and the psychology field. She helped me immensely with writing essays for applications, identifying programs of interest, and fleshing out my higher level goals and intentions with grad school. Ariana offers truly comprehensive support, whether it's improving essay writing, strategizing about the applications process, how to tell your story in a clear and effective way, helping you figure out what your goals are, or offering guidance and insight about the field in general, Ariana can seriously do it all. Before working with Ariana, my application essay responses were vague, contrived and unclear. After just two sessions, she helped me better define my story and intentions, and produce well written essays with a clear and unique point of view. I can't recommend her highly enough.

Ariana is a Beacon of Clarity in Dissertation Guidance

Finding the right support when you're working on a dissertation can be a tough challenge, but my experience with Ariana was a pleasant surprise. If you're stuck, stressed, or simply needing a fresh perspective, Ariana might be the solution you're looking for. In a brief two-hour session, Ariana provided guidance that clarified my dissertation project, specifically my focus group thematic analysis. Her approach was friendly and patient, yet incredibly effective. She made the process of organizing themes and picking impactful quotes feel less like a daunting task and more like a manageable, even interesting, part of the project. What really set Ariana apart was her genuine interest in helping me succeed. Unlike the lukewarm assistance I received from my professors, Ariana was eager to delve into the challenges I faced. She worked with me to identify a new direction for my project, offering useful advice that reflected both her knowledge and her desire to be helpful. What's more, Ariana's tutoring style alleviated a lot of my stress. She didn't merely throw information at me; she listened to my concerns, took the time to understand where I was coming from, and provided clear, concise guidance that helped me find my way. It's a level of attention and care I didn't get from my professors, and it made a huge difference. If you're embarking on a dissertation project, research paper, writing project, or especially dealing with a qualitative study/analysis, I wholeheartedly recommend Ariana. Her support was more than just academic assistance—it was a lifeline during a stressful time. I can't recommend her enough!
