I make the past come alive and help students understand not just what happened, but why it happened and why it matters. I am also skilled at teaching geography. which is inseparable from history.
Since 2003 I have coached high school students in small groups (3 to 6) in a nationwide civics/debate competition program (We the People/Classroom Law Project) which incorporates history, government and politics in a highly competitive process. While in this program we are called "coaches" rather than "tutors," it is essentially tutoring, and I am very good at finding where students need improvement with concepts and helping them overcome those obstacles.
