I am a retired attorney with extensive experience teaching and tutoring students ranging in age and level of education from preschool through graduate studies, as well as adult education.
I recently moved to Portland, Oregon where I work part-time as a Hebrew Teacher and B’nai Mitzvah tutor, preparing students for their coming of age ceremonies in the Jewish tradition.
My past academic and career paths have required rigorous study, excellent reading and writing skills, and a command of the English language, both in oral and written form. I have developed excellent study skills and shortcuts for learning and retaining voluminous information, preparing for examinations and managing performance anxiety.

I have always had a passion for creative writing. My work has been published in magazines, anthologies and academic journals, and my original one-act play was selected for production in the UCSB One-Act Festival.

I am an avid reader and spend much of my free time listening to audiobooks.

I am passionate about teaching and enjoy working with my students. I consider it a personal challenge to adapt my lessons to meet the individual needs of my students. I strive to make each lesson dynamic, engaging and sufficiently challenging to remain interesting without becoming an exercise in frustration. My teaching style is relaxed and informal. I encourage and student participation and engagement throughout my lessons and expect students to arrive on-time and prepared for class. My virtual classroom is a safe, structured space in which students are encouraged to ask questions, share ideas, and develop new skills for learning.

I have significant experience working with neurodiverse students functioning at various levels. I am open to adapting my teaching style and/or methods to accommodate students with special needs.
