Hey, I'm Tyler! I've been brewing professionally in Portland, OR for over 8 years in both small brew pub, and large production brewing environments. I started home brewing 11 years ago, and have continued to apply the knowledge and techniques I have learned from the big systems to my humble garage brewery.
It brings me great joy to pass along all the lessons, and knowledge I have acquired from the best brewers in the business to aspiring brewers just starting their careers, or brewers looking to improve the quality of their beers. Currently, I am one of the main trainers/educators for all new hires at a large regional brewery in Portland. I often invite the new hires to my garage brewery to brew away from the stress of normal business speed in order to guide them through the fundamentals at a more relaxed pace. In this environment, the lessons seem to click. I love that "ah ha" moment that often strikes my students.
It can be so frustrating to pour in your time, money and energy into a batch of beer only to taste the first pint and be disappointed by its flaws. Don't worry, I'm here to help! From small brew in a bag 1 gallon batch sous vide brewing, to 2.5 gallon, 5 gallon, 10 gallon, 1.5BBL, 3BBL, 10BBL all the way to 35BBL brew systems, I've been there. If you're interested in learning a specific method of brewing, such as decoction mashing, or partigyle brewing, I can instruct you how. If you're looking for ways to improve your west coast ipa recipe, increase aromatics on your hazy, or looking for someone to teach the basics of brewing science, I am here for you. I look forward to helping you brew the best beer possible! Please feel free to reach out to learn more, as well as schedule a lesson soon!
