Hello Prospective Students!

I’m excited to introduce myself to you! I am easygoing and genuinely passionate about tutoring—not just as a side activity, but as a fulfilling endeavor. With over ten years of tutoring experience through Wyzant and various institutions, I’m dedicated to helping students succeed. I come to each lesson prepared and encourage students to share any questions or materials in advance, ensuring we make the most of our time together.

Currently, I am the co-founder and course director of Climatematch Academy, where we offer a two-week virtual course in computational methods for climate science, reaching hundreds of students globally each year. Our mission is to foster a global community of scientists and stakeholders by breaking down barriers to knowledge and presenting content in an inclusive, accommodating manner. I apply these same principles in my tutoring sessions, customizing my approach to meet the unique needs of each student.

I hold two bachelor’s degrees—one in Applied Mathematics and another in Earth Science—and earned my PhD in Earth, Environmental, and Planetary Sciences from Brown University in 2020, specializing in oceanography. I then completed my postdoc at Princeton University assessing how natural climate variability affects coastal oxygen levels in the northern Indian Ocean.

In the summer of 2014, I participated in a program designed to support incoming freshmen as they transitioned to college-level mathematics. During that time, I also taught a GRE prep course focused on the quantitative section. Since then, I’ve had the pleasure of teaching college-level oceanography and programming to high school students at Brown University, both in-person and virtually, for three years. Additionally, I co-taught a Python seminar to juniors at Princeton University for two years.

I look forward to helping you achieve your academic goals! Feel free to reach out with any questions or to schedule a lesson.

I have passed WyzAnt's exams for calculus and algebra and I have an extensive background in both these areas. I was a peer leader for both calculus I and college algebra at my undergrad institution for about three years. During that time I also tutored at the library of my school for subjects from pre-college math through calculus III. Additionally, I know math can be hard to study for, and I have developed some excellent techniques over the years that have proven successful in my courses.

Fantastic Oceanography Tutor

Jenna was amazing as an oceanography tutor for me. Throughout many sessions, she would review slides and notes from class with me and explained them in a way that made a lot more sense when I was having trouble understanding it. She has a ton of knowledge about various oceanography concepts and has helped my grade increase with tutoring with her compared to studying myself. Highly recommended

Thanks for your kind words Thomas! It was great meeting you and I wish you all the best in your future endeavors!

Super skilled at teaching with great knowledge!

I've had 6 sessions with Jenna so far and plan to continue with her throughout the school year. We have covered Earth Science, including so far: Oceanography and Ocean Ecology. My class is pretty much independent study, and very intense, often covering college level material. Jenna is super kind and patient, very knowledgeable and is helpful by answering my questions. She provides images and drawings to further explain the subject matter. Also, she quizzes me to see what I retained and where I need to improve. She gives me gentle critiques which I appreciate a ton. Jenna is very caring and devotes, and anyone would be lucky to have her as a tutor.

Jenna is excellent!

Jenna tutored my son (high school junior) in algebra 2. My son said that after the first lesson, the math he had been struggling with made sense; Jenna has an easy, understandable way of teaching. My son is feeling more confident and is looking forward to their next lesson. Thank you, Jenna!

Knowledgeable and Dedicated to Student Success

I'm currently receiving tutoring from Ms. Jenna for my LSU Oceanography course. Despite feeling well-prepared, I received a low D grade on my first exam. However, after tutoring with Ms. Jenna, I was able to improve to a high B on my second exam. She is exceptionally helpful in explaining the more complex topics and is actively engaged in our sessions. Unlike many tutors, she requests notes, PowerPoints, and class material ahead of our sessions to prepare for our lessons. She has a PhD from Brown University, specializes in Oceanography, and completed her postdoc at Princeton. I am fortunate to have her as my tutor and highly recommend Ms. Jenna for anyone seeking an Oceanography tutor.

Fantastic Tutor: Really Understands how to Teach!

Jenna was awesome! She really understand how to teach you versus just throwing all of the information at you! She comes with plenty of study materials which is great because you’re both on the same page! I highly recommend her to anyone studying for the GREs.

Fantastic GRE Tutor!

Jenna was a fantastic tutor. I took the GRE once before and absolutely bombed the Quantitative section. The second time around, Jenna was truly the reason I was able to do so well. Not only did she walk me through every single step of problems I was struggling with, she also gave me test-taking tips and strategies that made all the difference on test day. If you have anxiety around test-taking, especially with math, Jenna is the perfect tutor for you!

Fantastic Tutor

Jenna helped me prep for a math test and she was extremely helpful. She provided plenty of practice materials for me and always went over things in detail. I now feel more confident in my mathematics ability and will continue to use her services in the future whenever the need arises. I've already recommended her to my friends so if you're thinking about getting a tutor I would suggest seriously considering Jenna.

Knowledgeable tutor ~ Calc 2

My son is taking Calc 2 online and Jenna is helping him to grasp the concepts and succeed in the class. She is very good at teaching and I am thankful he contacted her. The online tutoring will help whether he is home in MA or back to school in VA. Thanks Jenna!

Percipient and extremely friendly

Our first lesson went very well. The session didn't even feel like an entire hour. Jenna is charismatic and knows exactly what she is doing. We reviewed my previous Calculus test and started some homework. She was helpful and patient.
