Hello! My name is Rick, and I am currently a Social Studies teacher at Lakeview High School and Daly Middle School in Lakeview, Oregon. I teach Honors (AP-level) U.S. History to 11th-grade students and 8th-grade U.S. History.
I have 13 years of full-time teaching experience, including seven years teaching Advanced Placement courses—six years of AP U.S. History and one year of AP World History. Throughout my career, I have helped numerous students earn scores of 4 and 5 on AP exams, and I enjoy helping students develop the analytical thinking, historical reasoning, and writing skills needed for success.
In addition to AP instruction, I have taught U.S. Government and Economics through our dual-credit partnership with Klamath Community College, helping students earn college credit while still in high school.
One of my greatest strengths is teaching historical writing and essay organization. Whether you are preparing for the AP U.S. History exam, working on a DBQ, LEQ, or SAQ, writing a research paper, or simply looking to become a stronger writer, I can help you analyze evidence, develop clear arguments, and write with confidence.
My tutoring philosophy is simple: every student learns differently. I tailor each session to meet the individual needs of each student, building both understanding and confidence while helping them achieve their academic goals.
