I'm Geneva C., M.Ed. I have three years of teaching experience with first and second grade students, as well as a Reading Specialist endorsement to work with those who are finding the process of learning to reading frustrating. I myself have been diagnosed with dyslexia, and can remember the rollercoaster of a relationship I had with learning thanks to this. I enjoy working with students who have specific reading goals or who are simply hoping to find confidence in their abilities.

I have experience teaching kindergarten-second grade, and am certified to teach Common Core elementary subjects for Pre-school-12th grade in Oregon and Texas.

I graduated from George Fox University in April of 2021 with my Master of Education degree with a Reading Specialist endorsement. I have experience working with students who are reading well below their "expected" level and with students who are reading up to four grade levels higher than expected. I am confident in my ability to help students with all components of reading, from phonemic awareness, phonics, comprehension, fluency, vocabulary, and discovering individual motivators.

I have homeschooled a five year old student for the 2020-2021 school year. I chose the curriculum, ensured I met all Common Core standards for the kindergarten school year as well as most of first grade standards.

As a reading specialist, I am familiar with phonics and its importance as the foundation of reading development.

I love nothing more than watching my students succeed at reaching their goals, and would be overjoyed to continue helping students as they become reading experts themselves.
