I hold a B.S. in Biochemistry with a minor in Chemistry and a M.S. in Education from Oregon State University. I’m passionate about helping middle school, high school, and college students achieve their academic goals in STEM.

Hi, I’m Lizzy! I’m a certified high school science teacher with experience teaching biology, chemistry, and math in both public school classrooms and one-on-one settings. I hold a B.S. in Biochemistry with a minor in Chemistry and a M.S. in Education from Oregon State University. I’m passionate about helping middle school, high school, and college students achieve their academic goals in STEM.

I have extensive tutoring experience in high school biology, chemistry, IB, and AP science courses, as well as college-level subjects like genetics, evolution, cell biology, biochemistry, ecology, and chemistry. I also tutor Algebra I and II, helping students build strong foundational skills through clear, approachable explanations tailored to their learning style.

In addition to tutoring, I worked as a Teaching Assistant in OSU’s Biochemistry and Biophysics Department, supporting courses in biochemistry, genetics, and cell biology through small-group instruction, office hours, and assignment feedback. I also spent two years as a Research Assistant in a fungal genetics lab, where I gained hands-on experience with molecular biology techniques and presented my work at an international conference.

The Absolute Best!!!

Lizzy is extremely knowledgeable. The way she has explained and dedicated her time to help me, I have never experienced it before. She is so patient during the lessons and makes them interesting and enticing to a point I have begun to love a subject that I really struggled with. Genetics is a difficult course to take at a college level and Lizzy makes it not only interesting, but also manageable when it came to grasping difficult concepts. She made the learning process enjoyable and has built my confidence in understanding the material. She is so kind, dedicated, dependable, and passionate making her by far one if the best tutors I have ever worked with. I'm so lucky to have had her as my tutor, my grades and knowledge level are only getting better as I work with her. I would proudly recommend her to anyone struggling with their courses because she is truly the best at what she does.

amazing tutor!

I worked with Lizzy on biochemistry for about a month and she was so awesome to work with. She was always available for sessions and questions over messaging which was exactly what I needed in an accelerated pace biochemistry class. She was able to explain to me anything I was confused about and would use other material like pictures and diagrams to help me understand more. I could tell she put effort into being prepared for our sessions to help me as best as she could and would look up things on her own time to help me. I highly recommend her for any biochemistry and related topics.

Skilled and knowledgeable

Lizzy tutored me on evolution, and just for some background, I'm a university student, and this is a core class that is notorious for being difficult. She helped make the material understandable for me, and I feel really good about my last exam after tutoring with her. She is not only very knowledgeable but also an excellent teacher. She is always able to clarify any questions I have. Overall, I would say I had a really good experience and would definitely recommend her as a tutor.

Amazing Tutor!

My daughter is really behind in her 10th grade Chemistry class. She just started tutoring with Lizzy for a couple days but she is understanding so many more things that her teacher could not provide. She struggles a lot with Chemistry and did not understand the concept much or at all. She says Lizzy is very patient and has a great way of teaching that helps my daughter a lot. I think she’s learned more from Lizzy than she has in the class.
