About Eric

I started off as a mediocre student in college, but over time have developed into an A student by going the extra mile with everything I do inside and outside of the classroom. I believe I have three main strengths, my ability to bring a project from idea to completion, my ability to apply social theory to everyday situations to help create understanding of sometimes complex concepts, and my practicality, which makes me relatable to a wide variety of people. I am experienced in the field of Sociology, through my time as a research assistant for the Sociology Department at Pacific University. I have done my own research in the fields of racial inequality, economic inequality and gender inequality. I am familiar with IRB (Institutional Review Board) procedures. I am also familiar with a wide variety of research methodology, which includes focus groups, interviewing, transcribing, coding and surveying. I have an extensive knowledge and understanding of social theory. I have tutored all level of students in the field of sociology. I am able to accommodate all learning styles, whether that is visual, auditory, or kinesthetic learning. I have an extremely flexible schedule. Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Anthropology

I am an attentive, driven and yet easy going individual, with an ability to establish rapport and synchronize with people quickly. I have been the lead researcher for Dr. Daniel Eisen and the Sociology Department at Pacific University for the past two years. I have applied my knowledge and understanding of anthropology to ethnographic research. I am well versed in a wide variety of social theorists, as well as applying the concepts and theories of those theorists across a spectrum of applications. I am often called upon by younger students to help them with understanding concepts directly related to Anthropology.
