I am a private tutor and long-term substitute teacher for all subjects and grade levels, but I specialize in grades Pre-K through 9th. I have always enjoyed teaching and working with students, so I truly enjoy every minute of my time at work (even on the difficult days). My educational background is in Counseling and Special Education. I have a holistic approach to teaching that includes instilling confidence in a student's ability to learn. My goal in tutoring is for no student to feel "stupid," and for all students to enjoy learning. Whether you are looking to help your child catch up to his peers, master his skills, or get ahead, I would love to help.

My educational background consists of dozens of Special Education classes, including classifications/definitions of disabilities, differentiation in the classroom, and internships working with individuals with disabilities. My professional experience involves 3 students who I am currently tutoring; they each have ADD or ADHD. We work on time management, focus, calming, test-taking, and general homework responsibilities.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have a Master's Degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. I have been substitute teaching for the past 2 school years, in Elementary (K-6). In addition, I have worked in the Resource Room at 3 different elementary schools, where I have worked one-on-one with students needing extra support.
Phonics

Phonics

I am most experienced with teaching traditional phonics; however, I am well versed in DIBELS and the Susan Barton System. I have used all three, successfully, with students that have needed phonics tutoring.

My educational background consists of dozens of Special Education classes, including classifications/definitions of disabilities, differentiation in the classroom, and internships working with individuals with disabilities. I worked for 5 years as a direct-care worker for individuals with Autism and other spectrum related disorders. In addition, I was a County Case Manager/Social Worker for individuals with disabilities for 8 years. Finally, my son and I both are classified as Gifted and Talented; thus, I understand the special needs that accompany this label.
