I began my passion for teaching through family friends, and once I began my academic career at the University of Oregon, I have taught students of all different ages and backgrounds in Korean, test prep, and music. I have seen quite a few of my students succeed in getting to their dream universities, and have accompanied my language students as they developed their skills to a conversational level within a year, sometimes even less. The teachers and mentors who have made a profound impact in my life showed me how important it is to have someone to push you to become a better version of yourself, and I strive each day as a tutor to become that kind of a mentor to each of my students.

Through online platforms, I only teach Korean, but I also enjoy teaching other subjects such as grade school math, drums and guitar, and recently have begun training to teach martial arts and English in Haiti to children in the orphanages.

I was born in Seoul, South Korea and moved to the U.S. when I was ten years old, and have always loved my language and tried to develop my skills as I was learning English and even Spanish. Through my church, I found an opportunity to be a translator for the congregants, and I have been translating documents, sermons, and songs for the past six years. I have taught Korean as a profession for the past four years, and have many students who have been with me for 2+ years.

I was always afraid to challenge myself and learn new skills until recently, and I understand how daunting it may be to throw yourself into something you have never experienced before. Therefore, I will work with you to bring you the lessons that will satisfy your learning style and pace, to make our sessions a beneficial time for you.

I was born and raised in Seoul, South Korea for 11 years of my life, and have gotten the opportunity to translate in both Korean and English for families including mine, who are separated or have a hard time in communication. Furthermore, I have experience translating in legal, religious, and musical settings for Korean as well. I have taught Korean as a paid tutoring job for family friends and official clients for 5+ years. I am capable of understanding the cultural implications of both languages, and can effectively communicate what cannot be taught through books, videos, or other resources.
