I have over 25 years of experience in translating between Arabic and English languages, teaching both English as a second language, and Arabic for business, science or traveling.
I am a Native speaker of Arabic, born, lived and educated in Egypt, graduated with my first degree in science in 1973, in May 1976, moved to settle in Britain, I started teaching Arabic privately for variable age groups for the following 4 years, in June 1980, I was hired by a new company preparing to publish a new Arabic news paper in London, UK, the Saudi company was looking for qualified people to translate news from agencies, the new paper soon became successful, had a world wide distribution, many other publications followed in both Arabic and English. In 1984, I obtained a postgraduate diploma in Arabic / English Translation from the University of Westminster, The company’s growth and expansion gave me a good opportunity and exposure to work with people from all walks of life, it gained me the experience and skill of multi-cultural communications, I have been deeply involved for many years in the press and publishing industry, while i continued private tutoring Arabic Language, it has all helped to make me a better person, a confident translator and a good teacher, no doubt enhanced my career.
Working for a newspaper gave me a great opportunity to travel the world and mix with great people from variable cultures and backgrounds. My deep engagement and involvement with these people later led me to obtain a Master Degree in International Liaison & Multi-Cultural Communications, which i found it to be extremely useful when I moved to the US to pursue a career in teaching Arabic Language in the University of Oregon.
