Hello Students,
My name is Hali Burley. I was born in San Francisco, CA and attended San Francisco State University (BA, Drama) and Oregon State University (MA, Education). I have been teaching English for more than 20 years; my specialty is reading and writing. I have lived and worked in several states including Arizona, California, Hawaii, and Oregon.
I started my teaching career in English as a Second Language. I have a graduate certificate in TESOL from OSU and also, I teach ESL at the local college, here in Eugene. I love working with international students. My other passion is teaching reading and writing. I can help you (or your children) become better readers and improve your grades. I have worked with everyone from second graders to senior citizens - I believe in lifelong learning!
Test preparation and study skills are two of my other favorite subjects to teach; my motto is 'study smarter, not harder!' I've helped students improve their scores on the TOEFL, the IELTS, and the SAT.
In my free time, I enjoy gardening, hiking, and bicycling. I have a small vegetable and flower garden where I like to work outside until it gets dark. I am lucky to live in beautiful Eugene, Oregon. I hope to meet you soon and work with you to improve your academic skills.
