Bio

I hold a master's degree in chemistry, dual bachelor's degrees in chemistry and environmental science, and a minor in biology. For two years I was a graduate teaching assistant at the University of Oregon, where I taught general chemistry labs (221, 222, 223) and physical chemistry lab (417). I think learning can be genuinely fun and rewarding. I'm patient, and I'll approach a concept from as many different angles as it takes for it to click.

I ask that students send me the documents or topics they'd like to cover before our session, so I can come prepared to help.

Approved Subjects

Algebra 1

Algebra 1

Dual bachelor's in environmental science and chemistry with a master's in chemistry, working on femtosecond laser systems. Calibrating instruments and working up data takes a very comfortable understanding of both the underlying physics and the algebra to express that.
Chemistry

Chemistry

In undergraduate, I was a chemistry major and also a peer tutor for every chemistry class I took. I later went on to join the PhD program in chemistry and biochemistry at the University of Oregon, where I did research in three different labs. I was also a teaching assistant for 3 different terms of general chemistry, a term of physical chemistry (twice), and the Knight Campus Semiconductor Microfabrication Lab. Additionally, I have been privately tutoring high school- and college-level chemistry for the past 2 years.
Physical Science

Physical Science

I have a bachelor's degree in environmental science and chemistry as well as a master's degree in physical/materials chemistry. I spent the past 20 years building an understanding of physical sciences and the past 6+ years teaching them to others. I have tutored chemistry, biology, physics, geology, meteorology, climate science, hydrology, ecology, limnology, environmental chemistry, toxicology, and other physical/earth sciences for the past 6+ years.
Prealgebra

Prealgebra

Physical chemistry is the idea of using physics to describe and understand physical processes. A deep understanding of physics is required. However, it is necessary to first have a strong understanding of the underlying math. I have over a decade of Math education and 6+ years of experience as an educator. I have a deep understanding and countless hours of practice in algebra and pride myself in my ability to explain it from any perspective.
