I love working with my students, I am passionate about helping my Hearing, Deaf, and Hard of Hearing students reach their full potential. I received my A.A. degree in human development with a focus in Special Education and American Sign Language in California. I then Attended Western Oregon University where I finished my Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary studies with a focus in American Sign Language, Special Education, and Social Science. After completing that I continued my education at Western Oregon University and received my Master of Science in Education for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Education. I have been working at Lane Education Service District for 3 years now. I love watching my students succeed.
I have been certified multilingual in American Sign Language and English I have also been using the language daily for 11 years.
During my time in college I learned a lot about writing and vocabulary that students often struggle with in their elementary years. I am able to read an audiogram and teach students which words may be challenging for them to hear if they have a hearing loss. We can work on problem solving.
Throughout college I excelled in the area of spelling.
This is where my passion lies, I have seen so many students that succeed with extra support in the classroom around their hearing. I am able to read an audiogram and teach students which words may be challenging for them to hear if they have a hearing loss. We can work on problem solving. I help students focus on self advocacy as well, this includes working with their Hearing Assistive Technology.
I would love to help not only my students but parents and family members who are learning alongside their student. Every student deserves equal opportunity to be successful.
