I'm a current PhD student at Oregon State University where I study theoretical computer science. I received my Bachelor's from University of North Carolina Wilmington where I majored in CS and minored in math. I'm passionate about math and love to share that passion with others through teaching. I worked as a teaching assistant during my senior year of undergrad where I gained experience teaching and tutoring students. I'm currently a research and teaching assistant at OSU where I get to further my own education and assist students pursuing theirs.
I specialize in tutoring undergraduate and high school math and computer science. In particular, I am equipped to assist students with algebra, calculus, linear algebra, intro programming, data structures, object oriented programming, and algorithms. I am also able to assist students preparing for the SAT/ACT.
I adapt my approach to each student's situation and needs, but in general I believe that the best way I can assist students is by helping them build foundational knowledge and develop confidence in themselves. Sometimes this means a more traditional teaching approach where I introduce a topic, demonstrate it in action, and work with the student through examples. Other times this means assessing a learners current understanding and filling in the gaps.
