I'm a freelance writer from New York with a Master's Degree in Fine Arts from New York University. Currently I substitute teach grades K - 12 in all subjects, but I always look forward to the time I get to spend tutoring because I love how fast students improve in a one-on-one environment. It's very cool to witness!

I've tutored off and on since 2009 (as a Freshman in college I somehow managed to get the only A in my Calculus class, so the school hired me to tutor it). Since then I've had all kinds of jobs but I always seem to gravitate back to tutoring . Although my early experience was of the in-person variety, since 2020 I have found remote tutoring a great way to cut down on travel time and work with different students all over the country.

My specialty is writing. The great thing about writing is that everyone can do it well--and in fact we all do it well literally every day! When you're talking, you're also writing. It's just language. Sometimes we are made to feel that there are secret rules of grammar and syntax and structure that we don't know--but the truth is that you already know them. I don't mind saying that I'm pretty good at helping students realize just how much they already know, and how good at writing they already are!

Apart from that I'm a huge history buff, I enjoy math, and through experience as a programmer I'm also very comfortable with Python. I believe that learning is a skill itself, and I've found that (like Miyamoto Musashi said) "Once you understand the way broadly, you can see it in all things." I've also found that learning is one of the most satisfying experiences possible, and a wonderful thing to share.
