I have been tutoring and teaching computer programming and other computer skills to students of all ages for 25 years, and really enjoy helping people learn, in addition to professional work as a computer programmer.

Computer Science

I have been professionally employed in technical positions using many facets of Information Technology (IT) and Computer Sciences (CS) for 22 years, working with relational and non-relational databases, data reporting and visualization tools, Robotic Process Automation (RPA) tools, computer graphics, spreadsheets, data Extract, Transformation, and Load (ETL) tools, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) programs, and web technologies and programming languages including Python, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, C/C++, VB/C# .Net, and statistical analysis programs including SAS, Stata, and SPSS, as well as Microsoft's Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, etc.). I have experience with Windows, Apple OS X, and Linux operating systems.

General Computer

I have been tutoring and teaching computer programming and other computer skills to students of all ages for 25 years, and really enjoy helping people learn. I have a lot of experience programming in many programming languages and experience using many computer applications, and most recently experience in using various AI (Artificial Intelligence) tools such as Open AI's ChatGPT, Google's Gemini (previously Bard), and other less known specialty AI tools.

Interview Prep

I have over 30 years of experience interviewing job candidates in technical and non-technical fields as well as helping candidates practice their interview skills with practice/mock job interviews. I have a separate web site where people can schedule 60-minute practice/mock job interview sessions with me. I focus on common and less common interview questions, and can tailor the interview questions and practice to a specific job description, or a broader job market. Machine Learning/ AI

I have been using AI for generation of text (grant proposals, research documents, etc.), images from text, audio from text, and video from text for professional and personal use for the past 3 years, using multiple AI platforms including Open AI/ChatGPT, Google Gemini, Claude AI, and many other specialized AI platforms. I can help students understand how to ethically use AI tools for similar purposes. I taught classes on multiple computer subjects, including using AI for generating text, images, audio, and video at community centers in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and tutored private students in using AI to generate text for both non-fiction and fictional works/books. I also tutored a private student on using AI to generate images and video segments for their published website. I also just finished a Wyzant tutoring session with a Wyzant student who contacted me for help using AI to write grant applications. That student provided me with verbal feedback at the end of our session that they found the session very helpful and was appreciative of my AI experience and knowledge.

Microsoft Access

I have been using various versions of Microsoft Access for 22 years, for native Access applications as well as applications that connect to other relational databases including MS SQL Server, Oracle, and MySQL. I enjoy developing business solutions with Access, using tables, queries, forms, reports, macros, and custom Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) code.

Microsoft Excel

I've been using and teaching regular and advanced features of Excel (formulas, macros, forms, VBA programming, etc.), as well as many other business applications, for many years and can create sessions around the topics you need or want to learn.

Microsoft Windows

I have been teaching people how to efficiently use multiple versions of the Microsoft Windows operating system for 15 years, both online and in-person.

SQL

I have many years of experience performing needs assessments for database, web, and desktop/network applications that support the needs of users, including relational and non-relational database systems. The main focus will be on your needs, and we can explore all of the options.

Video Production

I have 12 years of video production experience, with video and audio editing experience for multiple Public Access TV stations, a children's educational program on cable TV, and client companies, using Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects, and the relatively new 'CapCut' program, to produce finished videos. I also taught video editing and production for a Public Access TV station in Hawaii.

Visual Basic

I have decades of experience in computer programming, including Classic (pre .Net) Visual Basic, and Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) in Access, Excel, and Word desktop applications.

Web Design

I have been using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and multiple back-end relational and non-relational databases, along with multiple JavaScript frameworks/libraries (React, Bootstrap, Highcharts, etc.) to develop web sites for multiple organizations for over 15 years.
