My name is Teala (Tea-la) and I have been tutoring professionally for over 15 years. I began tutoring in high school working with fellow high school students and students in the school’s GED program during my free periods and I never looked back. I continued to tutor through college while obtaining my bachelors of science in Zoology and bachelors of science in Animal and Rangeland Sciences along with a Minor in Chemistry from Oregon State University. I then went on to get my Masters in Biomedical Professions, focusing in Veterinary Medicine at Lincoln Memorial University, and I am currently working towards completing my Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. My goal is to make my love of science contagious to all of my students.
It is my personal policy to NEVER just give a student the answer to a question, instead we will take as many teeny tiny baby steps as it takes to get there. My goal is not just for my students to write down the right answer. My goal is for my students to understand why the right answer is correct and have the knowledge and tools to get to that answer in the future when I am no longer there to help them. We work together towards these goals through improving study skills, homework help, and complete step by step lesson review to find the source of the misunderstanding. My approach allows students to gain confidence in themselves and to help them succeed on their own in the future.
Over the last decade and a half I have specialized in helping students with learning differences and disabilities that include everything from dyslexia, dyspraxia, ADHD, and Autism Spectrum Disorders, to veterans with service related brain injuries. Every student has their own story and challenges to overcome. It does not matter if someone needs help with high school classes, college courses, or GED.I have experience working with it all. Together, we can discover the greatest version of your academic self.
