Hey I'm Cara....I love to learn, and I really enjoy helping others get more excited about learning too! I've been lucky enough to have had a few amazing teachers that totally changed my perspective as a student in third grade, in college, and then in graduate school. Each time was a period of tremendous growth, so since I had the benefit of those 3 teachers making a profound influence on my life, I'd like to think that I'm paying it forward by teaching and tutoring students myself.

I took lots of electives in Philosophy because it's such a wonderful exploration, but majored in science and psychology for my first career in stress management counseling. Then, after 15 years of working and traveling to amazing places all over the world, I got into a graduate school and focused on ecological sciences, and environmental studies for my second career as an advocate and educator. I started my own non-profit organization doing environmental education with adults in my community, and also with students in grammar schools and high schools. I taught classes in ecology, biology, marine science, and watershed ecology because I'm committed to teaching students in a way that might help us all protect the natural world that we forget we live in sometimes. I and the non-profit I co-founded received a County Earth Day award in Washington State for our efforts with pollution prevention education, and I got to be an environmental "Who's Who" in my Community. (The lesson here is to follow your interests wherever they lead you!)
My unique background basically sums up a life where there is never a dull moment, and where the learning never stops when you're engaged in doing what you love. I find psychology and natural sciences so compelling because people and nature are endlessly changing and fascinating. So I hope that you'll connect with me for two reasons: so that I can help you, and so that we can learn more together!
