In the course of studying for my bachelor’s degree in German (with minors in Classical Languages and Linguistics), and master’s degree in German translation and interpretation from the Monterey (now Middlebury) Institute of International Studies, I also spent one year each as a student at the University of Tübingen and the School of Translation and Interpretation of the University of Heidelberg. After completing graduate school I returned to Germany, working as a professional translator in Munich for seven years before returning to the U.S.
