Hello Prospective Student:
I am excited to help you find your way through school and through life. I have a lot of experience helping students with steps tailored to their needs. Developing a relationship with both the student and their parents is very important to me. Our first meeting will be a question and answer session introduction, followed by any specific learning and/or homework questions. I will be as open and honest as possible about my qualifications with you and your parents. In other words, you and your parents need to feel comfortable with me as a tutor.
Previously, I worked for the public school district as an elementary teacher assistant helping students who had fallen behind in their schoolwork. I tutored slow learners in elementary mathematics at a public elementary school for 2 years, primarily in regard to phonics-based reading skills. After this position ended due to lack of funding, I continued as a 1:1 tutor in the homes of these students as a privately funded tutor, specifically in the areas of physical sciences, mathematics, and history. In more recent times, I have tutored junior high and high school students in the subjects of algebra, reading (including phonics), and career counseling. My expertise as a teacher in relational settings has helped me achieve a definite measure of success. I strive to not only help students succeed, but to gain confidence and self-worth for their lives.
Thank you for considering me as your tutor. I look forward to helping you achieve success and confidence in your studies.
Sincerely,
Thomas (Tom)
