I moved to Tulsa in 1999 from Mexico city, and continue to be fluent in Spanish. I earned a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, and I recently obtained an alternate teaching certification in intermediate mathematics and Spanish. In the past, I have worked as a Spanish substitute at Saint Pius X Catholic School and volunteered my time teaching students mathematics. I am currently teaching on a part time basis at Tulsa Community College's Education Outreach Center. For the past two years, I have been teaching a GED preparation classes in Spanish for the math and science components of the test.
I have been told that I am very patient with my students, and they have been very pleased with my class. More importantly, they have been successful in learning the curriculum, and passing the tests. I enjoy helping others to learn. I take as much time as needed to ensure that my students understand. I know that math can be challenging for some people, but I am convinced that with good guidance anyone can succeed with their learning goals. I am looking forward to being your tutor! I absolutely loved having Lourdes as my tutor. She was so kind hearted and patient with me in my Spanish learning process. I enjoyed her lessons and learned a lot, not just grammatically, but also about the culture. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a Spanish tutor/teacher!
Daughter is looking forward to tutoring sessions with Luz. She is friendly and helpful and easily identified areas for future study. Encouraging demeanor. Her use of lecture and questions helps maintain language fluidity.
My son really likes her as she is very friendly and soft spoken person. He understands the way she explains him the Math problems and is excited about his lessons for Math and Spanish.
