Seventeen years of personal experience working with children with Autism
I have personal experience working with children with Autism. My seventeen-year-old son is diagnosed with Autism. I studied special education at Oral Roberts University. I volunteered for the last 3 years in a special need's ministry, working firsthand with children with Autism and other disabilities.
I have homeschooled my children from elementary to middle school for six years.
I have experience homeschooling elementary to middle school on several different platforms. While homeschooling, our curriculum consisted of assignments based on out-of-the-box thinking to make learning more fun while still covering the required basic materials.
I taught Ages three to twelve at a CoOp program through the YMCA, teaching various Math, Logic, Math Games, Music, and culinary courses.
I am familiar with online schooling platforms. My son is currently in High School using Connections Academy.
Five years working with special needs children in a ministry setting
I studied Special Education and Sociology at Oral Roberts University. Worked hands-on with children with special needs in a special need's ministry for the last three years. I worked in the public school system in self-contained classrooms for three years, working with elementary-age children.
I owned and operated a nanny company that focused on children with disabilities. During COVID-19, when schools were virtual, I tutored two families' children, elementary and middle school.
