From a young age I have always enjoyed teaching and tutoring others. Beyond volunteering with elementary students all throughout my high school time and starting my own Teaching Apprenticeship program, I also openly tutored and studied with my classmates. Upon pursuing my education at Ball State University I delved deeper into my love for pedagogy and the freedom at which teaching provides. I loved the idea of crafting the perfect environment for students that enabled and empowered them to be the best version of themselves. During my time here I tutored students from ages 5-12, in all content areas, including: writing, reading, science (experiments), biology, algebra, ESL, creative writing, and history. Additionally, I served as a peer mentor and Resident Assistant to several hundred college freshmen.

I was fortunate enough to graduate and earn a position within a local public school district, Washington township, in Indianapolis immediately. Though I adored working with 28 unique and rambunctious first graders, the pandemic had other plans and so I moved across the country to Tulsa, Oklahoma; this is where I discovered something I never thought I'd do: teach high school. This was the most rewarding experience of my teaching career (thus far), as I served all 350 multilingual students at McLain High school, teaching life skills, grammar, reading, writing, and how to communicate beyond the classroom. I served as an active voice and advocate for my students to the public and to my fellow teachers, and was proud to see them cross the graduation stage four years later.

All of this to say, now that I work as a student success coordinator at the local community college I have missed my opportunity to share knowledge one on one within the content of what a student might be studying. Wyzant would fill that gap for me and help me add to not only my professional but also personal goals. Thank you for considering me!
