Hi, I'm Brianne! I hold a Bachelor of Arts in English and a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing. I love the English language, literary analysis, rhetoric, poetry, and more. I am a passionate educator with three years of experience teaching college courses English Composition I, English Composition II, and Introduction to Creative Writing and eight years tutoring in multiple settings. Hi, I'm Brianne! I hold a Bachelor of Arts in English and a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing. I love the English language, literary analysis, rhetoric, poetry, and more. I am a passionate educator with three years of experience teaching college courses English Composition I, English Composition II, and Introduction to Creative Writing and eight years tutoring in multiple settings. My tutoring students have ranged from the elementary school level to the college level; represented all college majors and programs, including undergraduate and graduate students; and included neurodivergent and multilingual students. This vast experience has not just made me a well-rounded tutor but continually inspires my purpose and passion for recognizing each student as an individual learner and person. It has also shaped me as a tutor on Wyzant, where I get to know each student in order to create for them a one-of-a-kind plan enabling them to build competence and confidence in not only the targeted subjects and skills but in their own unique learning process.

On Wyzant, I innovate ways to most impactfully tutor my students, which is particularly possible and powerful in the case of long-term students. Collaborating with the student, I design unique coursework centering their preferred learning styles and engagement as well as their strengths, needs, and goals. I craft evaluation tools to help them assess their progress and adjust their plan as needed, igniting dynamic learning fueled by student ownership. I developed this approach to cultivate a highly differentiated, student-driven, and empowering tutoring experience, and it has proven successful. I offer similar support to short-term students by utilizing what I learn about them during the time we work together.

ACT English

I have a B.A. in English, which means I possess great knowledge of the English language that prepares me to tutor students in the ACT English exam. I also earned an almost perfect score (35) on my ACT English exam multiple times on both practice tests and actual tests when I was in high school. I have taught myself many key test-taking techniques uniquely geared toward the ACT English exam and am able to teach them to others so that they can perform their very best on the exam.

Besides scoring in the upper 30s consistently on the ACT Reading test myself, I helped one of my students raise her score on the test significantly, and she is set to enter University of California, Berkeley as an English major. Also, I hold a B.A. in English, and the critical thinking and reading skills I honed during my undergraduate studies enhanced the skills I had developed as an avid reader as a child and teenager. Lastly, I am currently pursuing a creative writing master's degree in which I am required to take literature and theory courses, which demand high-level critical thinking and reading skills as well.

I have a bachelor's in English and am currently an English master's student, and thus my skills in English and writing are well practiced, being continually sharpened, and versatile. In high school, I earned an almost perfect score on my ACT English exam (35) and also earned a perfect score on the AP Language and Composition exam (5). As a college student, I work in a writing center where I tutor students pursuing a wide variety of majors and studying at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, work as an online writing tutor both here on Wyzant and at Brainfuse.com, and will begin teaching at the college level (freshman Composition II) this fall 2022. All of these skills and experiences make me an effective English tutor.

I feel that my wide range of writing and tutoring-related experiences makes me a strong tutor for students seeking help with proofreading. I have a B.A. in English and spent countless hours during my college years proofreading my own work so that I excelled in my classes. Besides this main qualification for teaching proofreading, as a college student I tutored in a writing center and after graduation began tutoring online in the Brainfuse.com Writing Lab. I also work as an editor for a retired English professor who is writing a novel, and proofreading is one of the various editorial tasks I am assigned.

I have a B.A. in English, and the close reading and critical thinking skills I developed during my study of the English language, literature, and writing make me a strong reading tutor. I also earned an almost perfect score on the reading exam of the ACT (35) in high school. I have had a great love for reading my entire life; I would love to share my skills and passion for the subject with others.

Besides holding a bachelor's degree in English, I have diverse experience tutoring test prep that includes the SAT Writing test. As a high school student I earned an almost perfect score on the ACT English test several times and also have experience tutoring for this test. Due to this experience tutoring for and mastery of the ACT English test, the fact that the SAT Writing test is very similar to the ACT English test, and my experience tutoring for the SAT Writing test, I am well equipped to tutor for the SAT Writing test.

As an English B.A. degree-holder and current English graduate student, I exhibit both prior mastery of and continual learning in the subject area, which includes the skills required to successfully take the SSAT. I have experience tutoring multiple areas of English test prep including ACT English, ACT Reading, AP Language and Composition, and SAT Writing. Both my skill set and my experience have made me an effective test prep tutor, and I have seen my students excel.

Besides holding a B.A. in English and having excelled in many types of writing tasks, in high school I earned a perfect score of 5 on the AP Language and Composition exam, an exam which requires timed and complex essay-writing skills. As a college student I tutored in a writing center and after graduating began tutoring writing online at Brainfuse.com. I feel that these various experiences writing and teaching writing make me very well prepared to help students on Wyzant with their writing subject-related needs.
