Hi! My name is Mrs. Shirey, and I’m a dedicated educator with over 12 years of teaching experience working with students from prekindergarten through 5th grade. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Early and Elementary Education from East Central University and recently became certified in special education. This year, I have been teaching 4th and 5th grade students in a mild to moderate special education setting, but the majority of my experience has been with 3rd–5th graders. I bring a strong understanding of how students learn at different levels and pride myself on creating lessons that are personalized, engaging, and effective.
What truly sets me apart as a tutor is my commitment to making students feel safe, supported, and confident in their learning. When I was younger, I struggled to ask questions and speak up about what I needed, and that experience shaped the kind of educator I strive to be. I work hard to create a comfortable, judgment-free environment where students feel heard and encouraged to take risks in their learning. I love building strong relationships and focusing on individual growth, helping each student reach their full potential at their own pace.
