The typical structure of a lesson/session will look something like this: I introduce the topic/concept, I teach using examples, and we work through the problems together. We start by gauging what the student already knows and what gaps or misconceptions are present. This may consist of reviewing past work or a quick problem-solving questionnaire. Then I use scaffolding to break the problems and concepts into manageable steps. Over time, I remove supports until the student has fully mastered the concept before we move on to another.
I want to help the students I work with as much as possible and welcome any resources or suggestions from students and guardians. I can teach students one-on-one or in small groups both in-person and online.
