Convenient, patient, and effective
I have spent years trying to learn Spanish. I took 2 years in high school, 2 years in college. I have done the apps and at home learning boxes. I knew some basic words and conjugations (only in present tense) but really struggled with conversation. I hired an in-person tutor, which was very expensive and inconvenient. I finally stumbled upon Wyzant and was matched with Felipe. My experience with Felipe is amazing. Classes are very convenient (I literally take it from my office ... my boss thinks I am in a meeting. Don't tell anyone.) He gives me well organized exercises to practice and even suggested I read some beginner books. But our time in class is spent TALKING. We sometimes start with a quick "how was your week" conversation to work on past tense. Other times, "what are you doing now" to work on present tense. Those conversations have moved me forward in leaps and bounds. He is patient (and believe me, I need it), and great at clarifying different terms from different countries (Spain vs Mexico, for example). We actually have a great time and I am more and more comfortable speaking. For me, key to learning was to drop my pride and SPEAK. I make a lot of mistakes. That wasn't initially comfortable for me. But I am kindly (and humorously) corrected and really learn quickly. I cannot recommend Felipe highly enough!

He calibrated quickly to my experience level and his style allows for lots of natural conversation to practice realistic speech with another person. He is knowledgeable about grammar and etymology and uses a variety of methods to illustrate concepts.
