For reading, my approach is phonics-based instruction. For math, I like to use manipulatives and logic over rote memorization. Basically, I want you/your student to learn to reason and figure things out for themselves rather than memorizing facts or making guesses.
As a tutor, I excel at directing research for older students and making hard concepts understandable for younger children. As a librarian, I have directed college-level research and tutored in reading and math for elementary students. I have 5 years of experience as a librarian, 2 in research specifically and 3 in children's education.
