I design lesson plans around each student's current knowledge and tutoring goals. For new concepts or closing learning gaps, I introduce the topic, work through examples, and have students practice with guidance. When completing assignments, I check for understanding, fill gaps, and ensure mastery. For test preparation, such as college entrance exams or the GED, assessments are offered, and the results can be used to structure sessions for maximum efficiency and effectiveness. A variety of evidence-based strategies are implemented to foster deep understanding and encourage questions.
With 5 years of tutoring experience, I've worked with students from kindergarten through adult learners, both in person and online. I've also worked in tutoring labs at two colleges, supporting subjects from basic math through Calculus 3, Anatomy & Physiology and other biology courses, English Grammar and Composition, Literature, and Spanish. I've led individual and group tutorials and taught online workshop classes of 15 or more. I also volunteer as a tutor through community programs.
I hold a bachelor's degree in environmental engineering from the University of Oklahoma and associate's degrees in science, Spanish, and pre-engineering. Before engineering, I studied biology and social sciences, giving me a strong foundation across many subjects. Each day is an opportunity to learn—whether exploring new teaching methods, reading about the latest scientific advancements, or practicing problem-solving. I also keep up with current events to help make lessons more meaningful and relevant.
