Hello! I'm Marjorie and I have been teaching and tutoring for over 5 years. I specialize in tutoring middle school math with experience in remedial math, pre-algebra, algebra 1 and algebra 2, and geometry. I am also experienced in providing general homework assistance for grades 6-11. I have taught at both the collegiate level, teaching General Chemistry as well as private voice lessons, and at the middle school level, teaching remedial and seventh grade math/pre-algebra.

I prioritize a mindset of self-discovery and curiosity in my teaching. Throughout my time as a teacher and tutor, I have noticed most curriculums lack a common, connecting thread between topics, particularly in math. It is my goal as a tutor to guide students through the methods of pre-algebra as they interconnect and lead to the ideas and concepts of high school math courses. I have found much of the fear and confusion surrounding high school math comes from a lack of true understanding of pre-algebra concepts. By filling in those knowledge gaps through a curiosity-driven mindset, state testing, college preparatory courses, and general high school math classes become a challenge students are excited to tackle, not fearful of approaching.

Outside of tutoring, I am also an experienced singer and performer of classical vocal music. I earned both my Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and my Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance at The University of Tulsa in 2021 and enjoy tutoring privately as a means of income while I also pursue a career in music. As a singer, I am familiar with opera, oratorio, and art song repertoire. I believe a strong education results from the knowledge and appreciation of both STEM and the arts. As a tutor, I prioritize my student's individual needs and learning styles, focusing on building trust and rapport as well as providing curriculum guidance and assistance.
