Hi fellows, my name is Muataz (pronounced as : Mo-Taz). I am a magna cum laude graduate of the University of Oklahoma with a B.S. in Chemical Biosciences. For the past three years, I have worked as an Academic Tutor supporting students in STEM and Languages. I regularly led high demand group sessions of up to 50 students and was later promoted to supervise fellow tutors at my department. I have worked with college students and prehealth learners, including students preparing for competitive exams such as the DAT (which I scored in the 90th percentile myself) and MCAT as well as pre-optometry students. My academic background and tutoring experience allow me to explain complex scientific concepts clearly and efficiently. I am Level II Certified Tutor through the College Reading and Learning Association. This is a globally recognized certification reflects advanced training in tutoring methodology, ethics, learning theory, and structured academic support.
In my tutoring sessions, I care to build long lasting understanding rather than short term memorization. I use guided questioning (Socratic Questioning), visual explanations, and structured problem solving to help students understand why a concept works, not just how to apply a formula. I also connect material to real life examples so students understand the purpose behind what they are learning. I have experience working with students who have different learning styles, processing speeds, and academic needs. Some prefer a direct and concise approach, while others benefit from a more comprehensive or hollistic walkthrough of concepts.
I understand how overwhelming science courses can feel, especially before major exams. I always keep a judgement free space where students feel comfortable asking as many questions as they need while being challenged to think critically.
