The love for learning can't be taken away. It can be the starting point to facilitate a quality of life. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Licensed Alcohol Drug Counselor whose philosophy for human nature is the starting point to help a person realize their potential. Teaching others how to have interest that will hold their attention is priceless. My background is with teaching a variety of pupils from children to adolescent to adult how to keep that interest and desire to learn about psychology, history, government. I have worked with the oppressed on how to learn needed coping skills to navigate the classroom in prisons, schools for the special education student, behavior modification for the intellectually challenged. Learning can help the growth of the least become better at what they do. I led groups in prisons to teach insights about thoughts, feeling and behavior. This was a challenging environment. I taught educational groups on the values that are important to them or a client centered approach. I have learned that while we may be similar, there are differences in what motivates clients to learn. We are individuals in a context that changes as time flies by like a jet which calls for individualized teaching techniques. Depending on the stage of development and what motivates the person to learn can help the process.
