Learning math is about quantities and comprehending that those quantities represent a numerical value, represented by a symbol. At the basics, we learn math fluency by increasing working memory and utilizing ways to add or subtract quantities faster. Reading and writing are tools used to understand language. Comprehension is the analysis of the message and the ability to convey a message or dialogue with a purpose. Phonemic Awareness and the ability to manipulate speech sounds is invaluable to successful reading, writing, and speaking.

CCSS was a requirement to learn and utilize during my teaching curriculum. I comprehend the outline and requirements of the standards from PreK through 3rd grade. I can help your child in subject areas that are defined by the CCSS.
In 2015, I completed training through an Orton-Gillingham Mutlisensory K-3 program; a multisensory learning approach for struggling readers and learners (reading, writing, spelling and math difficulties, which encompasses dyslexia and dysgraphia). In 2017, I completed an advanced OG reading course and an OG, Mortensen Math Multisensory Course, for a total of 64 training hours (5 graduate credit hours). I combine two OG programs best fitted for your child's needs to achieve successful results.
Currently, I am performing clinicals toward an Academic Language Therapist Certification through the Texas Scottish Rite Children's Hospital's Take Flight Program. An exclusive Orton-Gillingham Multisensory training program for struggling readers, this program takes on a scientific, reasearch and evidenced based learning approach geared to help those individuals succeed: children through adult.
I am certified in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, and English as a Second Language. I have experience tutoring ELL, math, reading, and phonics. I have 7+ years experience teaching reading, writing, spelling, phonics, math, science literature, and social studies. Using mini assessments, I gauge each student individually based on his/her learning needs to suit a tailored lesson. I have CCSS training, Orton-Gillingham training, and 3.5 years experience teaching ELLs.
I have been teaching since 2007. Two of the most important strategies and skill sets a young child develops are fine motor control and gross motor control. I can help your child learn to craft a writing system by building and strengthening his/her fine motor skills. I can aid your child to practice proper usage of penmanship or help with his/her dysgraphia too. I am certified in early childhood education, elementary education and English as a Second Language.
I have a great amount of experience teaching and tutoring phonics with children, some young adults and adults too, of different backgrounds. I am certified in PreK-3, 1-8, and English as a Second Language education. Phonics is the ability to hear, identify, and manipulate phonemes, which leads to successful reading, speaking, and writing. I can help students not fear language by teaching them skills and strategies for successful reading.
Spelling is encoding a letter, group of letters or words that is decoded from reading. When a student identifies the rules that govern phonics and their letter-sound correspondences, that student will achieve and apply successful spelling habits and routines.
