I am a knowledge-seeking advocate.

My goal is to help you become successful, help you feel confident, and for you to find the joy of learning.

Learning math is about quantities and comprehending that those quantities represent a numerical value, represented by a symbol. At the basics, we learn math fluency by increasing working memory and utilizing ways to add or subtract quantities faster. Reading and writing are tools used to understand language. Comprehension is the analysis of the message and the ability to convey a message or dialogue with a purpose. Phonemic Awareness and the ability to manipulate speech sounds as well comprehend sound-symbol correspondence is invaluable to successful reading, writing, and speaking. I teach the science of reading. I teach multi-sensory math.

Contact me anytime. My compassion will be your passion for success.

ESL/ESOL

I have TESOl certificate and a Certification in ESL. I particularly work with younger students, but have worked with adults in South Korea.
Handwriting

Handwriting

I have been teaching since 2007. Two of the most important strategies and skill sets a young child develops are fine motor control and gross motor control. I can help your child learn to craft a writing system by building and strengthening his/her fine motor skills. I can aid your child to practice proper usage of penmanship or help with his/her dysgraphia too. I am certified in early childhood education, elementary education, English as a Second Language, and special education.
Phonics

Phonics

I have a great amount of experience teaching and tutoring phonics with children, some young adults and adults too, of different backgrounds. I am certified in PreK-3, 1-8, and English as a Second Language education. Phonics is the ability to hear, identify, and manipulate phonemes, which leads to successful reading, speaking, and writing. I can help students not fear language by teaching them skills and strategies for successful reading.
Spelling

Spelling

Spelling is encoding a letter, group of letters or words that are decoded from reading. When a student identifies the rules that govern phonics and their letter-sound correspondences, that student will achieve and apply successful spelling habits and routines.

Very knowledgeable and patient!

Amy performed an initial dyslexia screening for our daughter. I appreciated how thorough she was and yet still remained kind and patient throughout. Our daughter was made to feel intelligent and able, which was a breath of fresh air after testing with other services. Five stars.
