About Lisa

My goal is to ensure that my students have access to what they need, right when they need it.

I'm a professional writer, editor and educator certified in secondary English, and possess a M.Ed. in eLearning Technology and Design. When it comes to online learning, I have first-hand experience as a student, and know the challenges for educators and learners.

I have over 10 years' experience providing the tools and information necessary to empower students and help them prepare for the challenges ahead, whether they're focused on passing a course and promoting to the next grade level, entering the workforce, improving college entrance exam scores (ACT/SAT/PSAT), or all of the above. As a teacher, I've taught in and outside the classroom to all ages. I specialize, however, in 5th grade to adults.

EDITING & PROOFREADING SERVICES (Secondary & University)
I accept in-person and online requests for editing and proofreading. As the tutor, I will provide feedback and guidance (markup of the paper). As the student and writer, you will process the recommended changes. Make sure you allow plenty of time to make the suggested changes to the paper after I return it to you.

The type of edit determines how soon you receive the edited paper; plan for enough time to make it happen. Light edits and proofreading take the least amount of time. Medium to heavy edits often include suggesting rewrites of the content and major changes; these can take the longest and you should allow enough time for me to provide feedback and for you to process the changes.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ACT English

My ACT prep students' English and Reading scores typically rise 4-10 points after working with me. One of my students, who is also a math whiz, had a initial score of 24 in Reading and 26 in English. After 4-months intensive tutoring with me, he achieved composite scores of 34 in Reading and 32 in English. Overall, the majority of my students achieve an overall composite ACT score of 30 or higher for all subjects. Other students with whom I've worked have scored between 25-28 overall. Let me help your student improve their English and Reading scores, as well as Science, which is largely an exercise in reading comprehension.
