Hi, I'm Marie! I believe that understanding our planet and the systems that shape it is not only fascinating but also vital to sustaining the world we live in. I have a deep passion for Earth and environmental science and management, and that passion is what drives me to make science approachable and exciting for others. I graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor's degree in Geological Sciences and earned a Master's degree in Environmental and Resource Management. Throughout college and graduate school, I supported fellow students as both a peer tutor and a graduate teaching assistant for physical science, Earth science, and environmental science and policy courses, helping them tackle complex material with clarity and confidence.

As a tutor, I focus on breaking down challenging topics through step-by-step explanations, visual aids, real-world examples, and practical applications. I often incorporate diagrams, charts, and concept maps to help students see how the pieces fit together. I also believe science should feel relevant, so I love connecting classroom content to current events and issues, whether that's climate trends, natural disasters, or everyday sustainability choices.

My teaching style is supportive, flexible, and rooted in curiosity. I know every student learns differently, so I always start by listening, figuring out what's working, what's not, and how I can adapt my approach to meet each student where they are. I aim to create a space where students feel comfortable asking questions, exploring ideas, and developing their confidence. Whether you're wrestling with a difficult concept, polishing a research paper, or preparing for an exam, I'm here to help you build understanding step by step.

If you're looking for guidance in physical, Earth, or environmental science or just want to learn in a way that feels approachable and encouraging, I'd love to work with you. Reach out any time to ask questions or schedule a session!

I completed the Geological Science degree coursework, including Geomorphology, Field Geology, Paleontology, Mineralogy, Structual Geology, and Forensic Geology, and I tutored followed students in many of these courses. I was honored on the Dean's List for academic excellence for 2+ years, and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a 3.90 GPA. I also represented the Geological Sciences department as a College of Science Student Ambassador at science educational programs for elementary schools and college recruitment fairs.

Environmental Science

I completed my Master's degree with a 4.00 GPA and a thesis project on materials sustainability and circular economy. I led class projects in collaboration with municipal agencies to catalog and categorize their inventory of above-ground storage tanks and to research and recommend management solutions for styrofoam recycling. I also worked as a teaching assistant for two graduate courses, where I assisted with lectures, tutoring, exam preparation, and grading.
