I’m Wendy. For 23 years, I have taught K, first, and second, and tutored K-4th graders. On top of my Masters, and yearly workshops, I have training in Reading, Growth Mindset, Social Emotional Learning, and The Leader In Me. I specialize in elementary Reading and Math tutoring, working exceptionally with K-2. Every child wants to do well, and if they aren’t, there’s a reason: poor teaching, low confidence, or specific learning difficulties. I will work tirelessly to find that reason, developing specific strategies tailored to your child’s needs. I will help them build their confidence, reducing frustrations and proving that they can succeed. Your child will learn skills needed to catch up or get ahead.

I will also teach you, the care-giver, how to more effectively help your child. Too often teachers will say a child needs more support at home WITHOUT providing the tools to do it. I teach you the strategies and methods I am using, empowering you to help your child, also reducing everyone’s frustrations.

I have worked with families from highly diversified backgrounds, including ESOL, Deaf and Hard of Hearing, LGBTQ+, and those with severe socioeconomic challenges, mental health issues, and disabilities. I am respectful and caring, listening with both my head and my heart. I tailor my communication to match the needs of the students and care-givers, being clear and concise, engaging and accessible. I am very ‘down to earth’ and friendly, with a bit of silly and whimsical thrown in to make learning fun.

I offer sessions on-line, in my home or yours, or other locations. My rates are lower than most, but income should not hinder success: we can find a rate to fit your budget.
