I have been studying and speaking German with native and near-native speakers for six years and have attained an advanced fluency level, which enabled me to achieve a Gold award on the Level 4 American Association of Teachers of German examination. This summer, I attended a selective three-week study-abroad experience in Freiburg im Breisgau and Berlin, Germany on environmental sustainability practices in German.

I have been studying and speaking German with native and near-native speakers for six years and have attained an advanced fluency level, which enabled me to achieve a Gold award on the Level 4 American Association of Teachers of German examination, as well as attend a selective 3-week study-abroad experience in Freiburg im Breisgau and Berlin, Germany on environmental sustainability practices in Germany. I have been working as a German tutor for over three years.

I have been playing the piano since I was 4 years old, and have also studied clarinet, voice, guitar, and bass guitar for many years. Throughout middle school and high school, I was a member of Worcester Children's Chorus, where I had the incredible opportunity of performing in Carnegie Hall and in the Montreal Choir Festival. In high school, I earned a 5 on the AP Music Theory exam, and I have since gained expertise tutoring for this course using the Barron's review book. I am now pursuing a major in Music Education at the College of Wooster, where I am extensively studying music theory, music performance on a variety of band and orchestra instruments, and music pedagogy.

Knowledgable tutor with a very practical teaching syle

Jemella has an impressive knowledge of the German language, a very methodical approach to teaching, and a clear and practical way of explaining things. Our sessions have been invaluable in helping me to understand certain areas of German that I have been struggling with. Patient, knowledgeable and flexible tutor!

Jemella helped my daughter better understand how to use the dative and accusative cases in German. We were having lots of technical problems on our end. For some reason we seemed to be in a different meeting room from Jemella (we were probably doing something wrong so I will message Wyzant and figure it out before our next session). But Jemella was so patient and offered to do the lesson with my daughter over Zoom for that first session. She sent us a Zoom link and then my daughter's camera wasn't working! But we had audio and Jemella explained how we could send a picture of the review over the Wyzant messaging system. We did that, and Jemella and my daughter were then able to work through the test review on those two cases. My daughter was so relieved to finally understand the lesson! She hopes to work again with Jemella in the future. She felt that Jemella was very knowledgeable of the subject matter, obviously very flexible (with all our tech issues), and exceptionally good at explaining and teaching the concepts clearly! Thanks again, Jemella!
